Fortuny’s early, circa 1920’s, pattern in his “Melagrana” design influenced by a 16th century Turkish design. Tightly woven twill with a ground of bittersweet or pomegranate with a silver metallic overlay. Edged in his signature scrolling “R” border, professionally lined and interlined. (This pattern has only been back in circulation since December of 2006 in cotton.)

You get subtle color saturation throughout Fortuny pieces due to the fact these fabrics were hand printed and would have had different pressure applied to the stamp. These highs and lows of color are what Fortuny is most known for in his designs.

Condition: There is gentle fading at the very top and very bottom from age, typical.
