A 17th century, Italian or Spanish, Orphrey band from a chasuble with metal thread embroidery and same period silk velvet and trim made into a small runner. The metal thread embroidery has small highlights of silk thread and strapwork of gilt metal thread worked in a symmetrical design of curling shapes and floral elements and couched around the edges with cord of cotton wrapped in gilt metal strip wrap. Backed with later plain weave cotton. The trim end pieces look to have come from the original chasuble while the rest of the trim is different but from the same time period. This piece does come with an old tag on the back for J. Zeberg Antiques in Belgium that started business in 1946 and is still in business today under the name of J.M. Zeberg Fine Art.

Condition: The silk velvet has rub while the rest of the piece has broken threads, missing some silk threads and the trim is worn, all typical of a piece over 300 years old and has been used. The outer trim is loose in places and needs to be stitched down.
