A French 1710 - 30 silk and silver file brocaded panel with symmetrical patterns of flowers and leaves on a melon silk ground. Lace-patterned silk damask brocaded with silver metallic file, smooth in appearance, and frise, twisted for a crinkled effect, threads. (FRIEZE OR FRISE – Firm fabric with pile of uncut loops on the surface. Origin: French, frisé-curled.)

Condition: Slight fade in an area otherwise in excellent condition.
