Flemish 18th century tapestry fragment of a hunter in a verdure forest. The hunter is dressed in a simple pullover frock and is draped with a red cloth. He’s carrying a bird in one hand and has a spear in the other and a knife on his side. This hanging has a later tapestry addition across the top of birds, foliage and quivers. Fully lined with older linen on the backside and edged. A tag on the back that reads: Ce tapis a ete nettoye et repare dans les ateliers de G. Babikian, 23 Rue Le Peletier, Paris translates to: This mat has been cleaned and repaired in the workshops of… Farther research on G. Babikian says he was in business in the early 1900s.
